Security Officer
Your mission:

Your role will be essential in safeguarding the premises, guests, and staff, while creating a welcoming and secure environment for everyone.
As a Security Officer, you will maintain a visible and vigilant presence, ensuring all security protocols are upheld while remaining approachable and helpful. Your role is crucial in creating a safe space where guests feel at ease, allowing them to enjoy their stay without worry.
You must possess a fluent level of English, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and demonstrate a calm, confident approach to security.

The Nitty-Gritty:
* Follow the hotel safety protocols and assist guests and colleagues during emergencies.
* Monitor Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) and alarm systems, report and investigate any incidents.
* Log all health and safety incidents and occurrences on the management portal, impartially reporting them regardless of individuals or consequences involved, to ensure accurate record-keeping and support informed decision-making.
* Know the locations of firefighting equipment and assist with evacuation procedures effectively.
* Hold first aid certification and administer it as needed.
* Conduct full property walk twice on shift, report any safety hazards and resolve them where possible.
* Serve as a response point for security-related incidents involving guests or staff.
* Maintain fair and compassionate judgment, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or other personal attributes.
* Continuously improve personal skills through training opportunities.
* Assist police and other government agencies with investigations, respecting the Data Protection Act of 1998.
* Maintain confidentiality of all reports/documents; release information only to authorized individuals.
* Adhere to and maintain confidentiality regarding all event security arrangements.
* Perform assigned duties based on event-specific instructions.
* Refuse entry to unwelcomed individuals who may pose a legal risk to the hotel.
* Resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy, using minimum force only when necessary.
* Seek guidance from the Duty Manager or Front Desk Manager when needed.
* Ensure compliance with licensing objectives at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh.
* Report for duty punctually with a professional appearance.
General Responsibilities
* Maintain open communication with all hotel departments.
* Support guest engagement and name usage, contributing to a friendly, professional environment.
* Uphold Virgin's core values and attend required training sessions.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and uphold exceptional guest satisfaction.
* Maintain proper conduct, dress code, and appearance standards.
Health & Safety
* Report hazards and ensure they are promptly addressed.
* Work safely, minimising risks of harm to self and others.
* Keep the work area clean, reporting any defective materials or equipment.
Background must-have:
* Current right to work in the UK.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Hold valid SIA license.
* Familiarity with hotel emergency procedures, security protocols, and health and safety policies.
* At least one year in a public-facing role, ideally within a hotel environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
* Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
* Positive attitude, self-motivation, and flexibility with working hours.
* Competency in IT and training programs is valuable.
* Must be well-groomed, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a high-pressure environment.
* Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
