You will work in a range of settings and via telehealth, bringing substantial experience of managing a range of communication, speech, and language conditions in children.

Main Duties of the Job
The main duties of the post are:
1. To provide clinical expertise and advice on assessment, diagnosis, and management of children with communication, speech, and language difficulties including developmental language disorder.
2. To prepare, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes.
3. To develop, write, deliver, and evaluate training packages, supporting generalists in developing training.
4. To provide mentoring, clinical supervision, and joint visits to speech and language therapists, generalists, and assistants.
5. To assist in training and supervision of speech and language therapy assistants and students.
6. To participate in the development of innovations in the children's speech and language therapy service.
7. To participate in service delivery issues and risk management.
8. To maintain accurate, concise clinical records, provide reports, attend case conferences/reviews.
9. To demonstrate continuing professional development, maintaining a portfolio in line with professional and Trust guidelines.

Job Responsibilities
Job Summary
To participate in the organisation, coordination, development, and provision of the Speech and Language Therapy Service to ensure the provision of an efficient, high-quality service. This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post-holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed. The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post-holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.
Key Result Areas:
1. To provide clinical expertise and advice on assessment, diagnosis, and management of children with developmental language disorder.
2. To provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide advice and guidance to carers, non-clinical staff, or members of other professions.
3. To participate in the planning and implementation of the day-to-day operation of the Speech and Language Therapy Service to this client group.
4. To prepare, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes and advice for clients to ensure the delivery of designated standards of care consistent with departmental policies and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy Guidelines.
5. To develop, write, deliver, and evaluate specialized training packages with access to specialist support as required.
6. To provide mentoring, clinical supervision, peer support, and joint visits for advice to Speech and Language Therapists, generalists, and assistants relevant to this clinical area.
7. To assist in the training and supervision of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students from other professions.
8. To participate in the development of innovations in the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service.
9. To maintain accurate and concise clinical records, providing appropriate reports and statistical information to facilitate future business planning.
10. To reflect on practice, both individually and with peers to identify own strengths and needs.
Person Specification
Personal Attributes
* Written and verbal communication skills which allow professional information to be conveyed in an accurate and organised manner.
* Effective communicator in a variety of settings with different people.
* Demonstrable ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
* Proven organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work within a team.
Training and Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapy or equivalent.
* RCSLT Certificate to Practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Current registration with the Health Professions Council.
* Postgraduate certificate in paediatric dysphagia.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with children with Communication/Speech and Language Needs.
* Proven clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of communication disorders.
* Demonstrable experience in coordinating the work of others.
* Demonstrable experience with children with dysphagia.
Special Knowledge/Skills
* Demonstrable knowledge of contemporary issues in the Health, Education, and Social Care Community relevant to the client group.
* Demonstrable knowledge of the functions of related professions with this client group.
* Demonstrable ability and experience in developing, writing, delivering, and evaluating training packages.
Physical Attributes
* Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
* Use of an insured car for business use during work hours.
* Appointment subject to Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
* A current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential.
