MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role has primary responsibility and accountability for Costs, and includes supporting the wider Securities Control and Reporting Team:
1. You will have primary responsibility for, and be the subject matter expert in the team for cost reporting up to and including monthly CFO sign off; this includes but is not limited to:
o Monthly costs and accruals for 2 Legal Entities (Parent UK entity and EU Subsidiary) including analysis
o Cost allocations (Support Function to Front Office, Front Office to Front Office, International & additional cross entity Front Office allocations)
o Compensation and benefits
o Cost side elimination for consolidated reporting at both a statutory level and for JGAAP Reporting to Head Office in Tokyo
2. Governance:
o Maintain and develop a robust control environment
o Actively manage and track regulatory costs and regulatory returns associated with the PL
o Take ownership and manage the Oracle accounting framework
o You will proactively contribute to the monthly GL close, through review of key controls and underlying trade data supporting an end-to-end understanding of systems and process flow and comprehensive ownership of underlying trade data. Tasks and duties will include:
o Supporting the Revenue Team in month end close
o Providing insight and support for cost + and expense recharge mechanism
3. Balance Sheet:
o In depth third party based Balance sheet substantiation
o You will complement timely and accurate financial reporting with value-add analysis through detailed analytical procedures to understand business performance and drivers.
o You will leverage Business Intelligence (our primary data reporting tool) and your knowledge of systems architecture to develop and automate processes to enhance control, increase efficiencies and enable greater focus on value-add analysis.
o Extensive communication is required across the firm including direct interaction with trading desks, risk teams, product control and other Finance teams with regular communication with Tokyo colleagues.
o You will engage with external auditors to support the process throughout the cycle, including interim procedures, controls review and year-end substantive testing.
o The team is expected to maintain recent detailed process notes for all material areas of responsibility and support other team members through cross-training and knowledge sharing to promote a culture of continual professional development across the team.
o Rotation within the team to ensure exposure to alternate products, at appropriate intervals, is encouraged.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Big 4 trained preferred and ACA/ACCA qualified
* Financial instruments experience (preferred)
* A keen interest in Financial Reporting, with experience of preparing financial statement disclosures
* Solid knowledge of IFRS required
* Experience of working in a multi-GAAP Group function (preferred)
* Familiarity with working with very large volumes of complex data
* Experience of using Business Intelligence tools in developing automated reporting solutions
* Competent user of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
