Description
We're currently looking for a Group Accountant as a key part of our Group Finance team, responsible for financial reporting and compliance across Butlin's central support and Resorts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain financial accuracy and control over revenue reporting, assisting with the preparation of two year-end statutory group accounts.
2. Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accounts relevant to your role, whilst performing monthly postings to ensure financial reporting accuracy.
3. Support and liaise with external auditors as required, maintaining a strong internal control environment, including compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
4. Reconcile holiday sales revenue from revenue systems (Seaware) and ensure correct posting to the general ledger, investigating and resolving any differences.
5. Mentor junior team members and contribute to their development, as well as having input on team structure, responsibilities, processes, and improvements.
6. Assist with Corporate Tax computations and submissions, understanding quarterly VAT preparation and performing quarterly VAT reconciliation workings to be used in the VAT calculation.
Additional Projects
1. Lead or contribute to finance transformation projects such as systems implementation or process simplification improvements.
2. Support financial initiatives with robust financial insight, review existing processes with recommendations for improvement and efficiencies.
3. Lead or support finance transformation projects, providing financial insights to ensure informed business decisions.
About You
The ideal candidate should possess a professional qualification such as ACCA or ACA, along with a minimum of 1 year post-experience in a group accounting role within a similarly sized business, preferably in a senior capacity.
A detailed knowledge and understanding of accounting of revenue and deferred income is essential. You need to have a strong background in planning, reporting, and financial analysis, paired with advanced Excel skills that include data analysis and financial modelling. Familiarity with ERP systems, such as ERPX, is essential, and you should have a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems. You should be self-motivated, proactive, and confident, with an accurate and detail-oriented approach that allows you to identify and implement process improvements effectively. Additionally, strong stakeholder management skills are necessary for engaging with resort finance teams and supporting office teams in building effective relationships. #J-18808-Ljbffr
