Description Wood is recruiting an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in the Oil & Gas sector to join and enhance our existing team in developing and delivering work for projects and framework engagement. This role is based in Lowestoft and hybrid working with the expectation of working 3 days from our site office and across various client locations Responsibilities The Role You will provide operational management; accountable for the growth, development and delivery performance in an assigned area for our contracts, supporting the development of the strategy and delivering the local business plan. Accountable for HSSEA, technical and financial performance, assuming budgetary and P&L responsibility, achieving monthly and annual targets, demonstrating clear safety and ethical leadership and embedding company values. Lead and focus the team to attain all HSE plans, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring legislative compliance Provides tactical direction to operational delivery team(s) in order to meet business plan goal Ensures robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place Carries out significant operational administrative functions, staffing activities and managing day-today employee relations and operational Issues With direction and within set parameters, establishes annual business goals and strategies and prepares business plan for assigned location Serves as consultant or project manager as appropriate Ensures financial, safety, and quality controls and compliance to company policies Maintain operational integrity and excellence, ensuring robust governance, subcontractor management, and performance reporting. Work with leadership and peers to improve delivery performance and maximise delivery opportunities throughout wider business where required. Establish and implement policies, and ensure appropriate governance mechanisms for continuous monitoring of their proper implementation Ensure our people and the worksites at which they operate are safe and well-managed Support resolution of any legal claims in collaboration with legal and other relevant functions Pursue and develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalisation and technology use, work share and high value engineering centres, to bring value to Wood and customer Participate in technical audits and peer reviews as required Manage and lead a team of various functions and technical skills to deliver on the contract requirements. Support HR on matters arising that maybe of a sensitive nature such that it may require investigation or disciplinary skills/training. Business Growth Deliver growth in the areas of responsibility through close collaboration with Business Development. Develop and own business plan, and drive sales, bid and tender activity Assist with developing and delivering a robust business plan, whilst driving and supporting corporate initiatives, ensuring company values are at the core of all activities Expands the company’s business in the area served, directs local business development programs, proactively identifies new opportunities and supports / leads bid and tender activity as appropriate Oversees proposals and call-offs (may be individual projects) within the delegation of authority, ensuring compliance with contracting policy and standards of ethical conduct Leadership Is a champion and role model for ethical behaviour and compliance with applicable laws and policies Support and lead a delivery and support team including accountability for recruitment, selection and development of talent and succession, ensuring effective performance and capability management, acting as a coach/mentor and encouraging and supporting open and effective communication to optimise delivery of objectives, maximise team performance and achieve continuous performance improvement Responsible for ensuring the competence of employees in the area of responsibility to carry out assigned duties Ensure day-to-day operations maintain a continued alignment with overall corporate policy, strategy and direction Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: Degree qualification in Engineering, Scientific Discipline, or related technical field OR degree qualified in a commercial/business discipline with significant experience in a technical organisation Track record of successful operational delivery within relevant industry sectors Broad understanding of the industry and networking capability Experience of customer-facing communication Strong relevant technical expertise or commercial/business leadership of a technical organisation Understanding of management systems Knowledge of current QHSE and other legislation as applicable in the industry Team building skills – motivating people, proactively enabling cross-functional best practice Ability to lead change programmes
