We are currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join the Adult Mental Health Team.
The team provides support to people where the predominant need for support is mental health related. Duties will include supporting individuals to engage in the recovery model to promote independence in the community. Also working with a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate hospital discharges from acute hospitals and mental health hospitals.
The team complete strength-based Care Act assessments, working under the Care Act 2014, to identify eligible needs and offer advice and interventions on how to prevent, reduce and delay their needs. The team carry out mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions working under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, to empower and protect individuals who may be unable to make decisions because they lack capacity. We also undertake legal work within the Court of Protection to ensure that people’s rights are upheld.

As a Social Worker in Adults Services, we will provide a nurturing environment where your practice will flourish. You will work within small friendly team, have a manageable caseload, and be provided with strong learning resources. You will also receive extra personal support from an advanced practitioner, regular supervision, bespoke learning and development and excellent post-qualifying opportunities.
To be considered for interview, you will:
* Have a relevant social work qualification
* Be registered with Social Work England
* Have compassion and an understanding of the needs of people who are impacted by mental health issues.
* Have an enabling, person-centred approach which promotes independence.
* Ideally have Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) experience, but we will offer the opportunity as part of the career progression criteria to undertake this training.
* Have knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and practices.
* Have a full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle (due to the requirement of frequent travel across the Borough).
