Main duties of the job
As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal produce and deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the long hours and split shifts. You will work closely with the Head Chef to develop menus, ensure meals are of the highest quality, and create a warm and welcoming environment for the residents. The role also includes managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, working within a budget, and completing regular audits.

Minimum Requirements
NEED TO HAVE:
1. A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
2. Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
3. A good understanding of nutrition
4. Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
5. The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
6. Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
7. Good understanding of HACCP

1. Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence

3. Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards

Person Specification
The ideal candidate for this role will hold a City & Guilds, NVQ, or SVQ qualification, or equivalent, and have a good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh, seasonal produce. They should also have a personable and warm approach, a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents, and the ability to create a welcoming environment within the care home.
