Temporary Senior Business Support Officer/Admin – Finance

Pay Rate: £13.93 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, 8.30am to 5pm
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months

The successful candidate will deliver business support services to support internal and external customers in one or more areas using skills and knowledge which may be unique to specific business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate a complex area of administration or business support work, taking ownership and responsibility for the end-to-end processes.
2. Under direction from the Finance and Data Officer, deploy and plan resources to maximise efficiency of business support services and responsibility for day to day operational issues.
3. Actively promote the council's values: Dedicated, Respect, Ownership, Curious, Collaborative.
4. Make real-time service decisions in response to operational issues in line with local procedures and established guidance.
5. Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers and stakeholders including escalated issues, taking responsibility for satisfactory resolution.
6. Provide information, data and advice on complex business support matters and carry out, monitor and reconcile financial transactions.
7. Monitor service compliance with local guidance and legislation.
8. Own and drive forward process improvements.
9. The provision of business support advice which could include a specialist area.
Qualifications:
1. Relevant level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ level 3, BTEC, relevant A levels etc. and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and understanding through experience.
Skills & Experience:
1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
2. Good communication skills.
3. Excellent customer service skills.
4. Previous administration experience.
5. Working knowledge of effective business support systems and procedures.
6. Ability to manage a complex workload and to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks.
7. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to deliver work to agreed targets and standards.
8. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
