Job Description - Digital Comms Coordinator
Contract: 30 hours per week
Reports to: Comms and Fundraising Manager
Location: Petals Office, Swaffham Bulbeck, with some home working agreed informally (Remote working will also be considered).
About Us
At Petals, we provide a free counselling service to support women, men, and couples through the devastation of baby loss.
Petals’ counselling programme is unique and has been specifically designed and developed to meet the needs of parents who have suffered pregnancy complications, the loss of a pregnancy, or the death of a baby. Our counsellors are experts in this field and between them have many years of experience in counselling people after all types of baby loss.
About the Role
As our new digital communications coordinator, you will play a key role in helping us to achieve this goal through the production of inspiring and influential communications with our supporters. You will also help us raise the profile of Petals so that more people know about what we do and why it matters.
Social media will be your bread and butter, sharing our work and connecting with our audiences with relevant, creative content. You will deliver our email communications programme, ensuring our supporters receive communications that are relevant to them and motivate them to stay committed to us. You will oversee our website too; it’s an important window into our work, and it must be accurate and helpful and needs to support our communications strategy.
As well as knowing your way around the digital channels described above, you need to be a first-class communicator, a brilliant writer, have good attention to detail, and be a creative thinker. In this role, you will be able to establish your own ideas and make an enormous impact on our fundraising and engagement with supporters.
This role will require a DBS check to be completed by the successful applicant.
Overall aims of the role:
* To deliver digital communication activity that raises awareness of Petals and encourages new and existing fundraisers to become loyal supporters.
* To produce high-quality content for our digital channels, including social media, email, and our website.
* To deliver communication campaigns that are audience-led and reflect our values and tone.
Key areas of responsibility
* Contribute to the successful delivery of our communications and marketing strategy by producing creative and effective digital communications to drive engagement and inspire support.
* Create, schedule and deliver written, video, and graphic content for social media, including paid where relevant.
* Write, produce templates, organise data and send all email communications, using automated journeys and personalisation to maximise results.
* Create content for the website such as case studies, news stories, and reports.
* Oversee all pages on the Petals website, ensuring content is up to date, accurate, accessible, and optimised for search.
* Use tools such as Canva to create and edit content.
* Appropriately respond to comments and questions posted on our social media channels.
* Where required, support the Communications and Marketing Manager with offline communications work such as press releases, writing case studies, or production of marketing literature.
* Report on the performance of all digital activity.
* Liaise with relevant suppliers and external stakeholders.
* Complete other administrative comms tasks as directed by the Communications and Fundraising Manager.
* Ensure that all content and interactions reflect Petals brand values and tone and enhance the charity’s reputation.
* Form part of the Petals support team, attending fundraising events throughout the year.
General
* Participate in team meetings and work with the office team to create a warm and welcoming environment for staff, colleagues, and visitors.
* Work independently and responsibly with day-to-day communications that pass through the charity.
* Support other members of the Petals team as and when necessary to ensure consistency and efficiency throughout Petals.
* Attend workshops and events, in person or online, as required to support the counselling service.
As a small charity, the ability to be flexible and adaptable to take on different duties if/when required in other areas of the charity, to support the aims and objectives of our mission is vital.
This job may involve working unsocial hours on some occasions. Time off in lieu will be taken by arrangement with your manager. This job description is not contractual and may need to change upon discussion with the role holder.

Knowledge and experience:
* Commensurate experience in an applicable role (E)
* Experience in communicating across a range of different media (E)
* Experience of using Hootsuite or similar tool to manage social media channels (E)
* Strong understanding of how to engage audiences via social media platforms (E)
* Ability to write compelling, channel-appropriate copy (E)
* Experience of using Canva (D)
* Experience of using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (D)
* Experience in a fundraising environment (D)
* Experience of working in a small team (D)
* An understanding of SEO (D)
* An understanding of fundraising communications, in particular donor acquisition campaigns (D)
* Experience of data management to support communications activity, including use of CRM systems (D)
