Main duties of the job
* Manage the appointment system effectively and ensure there is enough staffing capacity to fill all relevant administrative tasks by maintaining an efficient staff rota.
* To be responsible for prioritizing and ensuring all appointments are made for all modalities within the Radiology department and all bookings are completed within standard operating procedures and the RTT which includes liaising with nursing staff and bed managers when booking complex procedures and the admission of the patient is required.
* Undertake continuous monitoring of capacity and demand, reporting significant changes and potential service detriment or improvement, and identify resource implications.
* To relate and communicate with all patients and visitors in a sensitive and empathic manner. To assess the need for and use of appropriate level of tact when dealing with patients with an aggressive manner, cultural/language difficulties and disciplines.
* To be responsible for the operational management and leadership of the clerical, administrative and secretarial staff within the Radiology department.
* To be responsible for conducting first day induction interviews with all new clerical recruits, ensuring staff are informed of standards, policies and procedures.
* To receive and allocate to a senior clerical officer, any student or new radiographer who is required to undertake basic clerical training.
