• Create recipes, prepare ingredients, and bake a variety of Sri Lankan baked goods like Viana rolls, Fish buns, Egg buns, Onion buns, coconut cake and other bake goods like cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, breads and Sri Lankan style rolls, cutlets.
• Decorate baked goods with icings and toppings
• Develop seasonal menus and collaborate with the Head chef
• Overall management & responsibility for the bakery section of the kitchen
• Ensure products meet quality standards and comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Maintain the sustainable standards focusing on sourcing local, organic, and seasonal produce whilst minimizing the waste in the kitchen
• Plan and work for special orders (birthday parties) and Handle customer inquiries.
• Efficient cooking technologies of all Sri Lankan bakery stuff and any other Sri Lankan recipes.
Qualifications
• Experience:
o A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in baking and preparing traditional Sri Lankan sweets, pastries, and baked goods such as Viana rolls, fish buns, egg buns, onion buns, coconut cake, and other specialty items.
o Previous work experience in a Sri Lankan hotel or bakery, providing an in-depth understanding of authentic Sri Lankan culinary standards.
• Baking and Culinary Expertise:
o Proven skills in baking a variety of goods, including cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, bread, and traditional Sri Lankan rolls and cutlets.
o Creative abilities in recipe development, ingredient preparation, and decorating baked goods with icings and toppings to enhance visual appeal.
• Menu Development:
o Experience in developing seasonal menus, including the ability to collaborate with head chefs to ensure variety, authenticity, and customer satisfaction.
• Leadership and Management:
o Strong leadership skills to oversee the bakery section of the kitchen, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high-quality output.
o Ability to plan and manage special orders for events such as birthdays, and handle customer inquiries professionally.
• Food Safety and Sustainability:
o Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and quality assurance standards.
o Commitment to sustainable practices, including sourcing local, organic, and seasonal produce and minimizing kitchen waste.
