Each of the Senior Clinical Fellows will be allocated to one of the 8Consultants and will remain so for the duration of the post, subject to theneeds of the service. Although the Specialist Registrars & Senior ClinicalFellows will have a principal responsibility for one Consultant's patients, they will of course be expected (by arrangement) to cover for each other and will also assume responsibility to other Consultants should the need arise. The Senior Clinical Fellows will be expected to attend ward rounds andoperating sessions as determined by their Consultants and will also beexpected to assist at Orthopaedic and Trauma Clinics. The Senior ClinicalFellow will be permitted to operate under supervision according to theirexperience. This post is also suitable for experienced senior surgeons andopportunities will be made available for those with more experience. When on duty for Trauma and Orthopaedics emergencies (or in theunavoidable absence of a colleague who should be on duty) they will attendpatients in the A & E Department and determine the initial treatment of thesepatients whether admitted to hospital or not.
