Job summary The post holder will be responsible for strategically leading and managing the multi-disciplinary education agenda for Maternity Services. This will be inclusive of statutory and mandatory training, staff development plan, skills log, student and apprenticeship programme management, MSW programme and International Midwives. They will be responsible for supporting and developing the maternity education department and will lead, promote, and facilitate a safe and positive learning environment and culture for all maternity staff groups. They will identify any gaps in the provision of education and training and be instrumental in the development and implementation of new education programmes, local ensuring local and national service objectives are included within the local maternity education strategy. Main duties of the job Accountability: Be responsible for the management of the coordination of the professional development of all midwives within the Maternity Department. Manage the facilitation of the team to support learning to the highest quality through teaching and assessing, whilst supporting the Trust's Clinical Governance agenda. To ensure all maternity staff are working in accordance with their trust requirements and the orientation period for new staff is concise, evidence based and supported by the post holder. Play a pivotal role in education provision within the Maternity Department and be a proficient, approachable role model in addition to an expert clinician in the field of midwifery, with a proven track record of clinical achievement. Ensure learning identified in the PQSM (Perinatal Quality Surveillance Model) is incorporated into the training agenda and particular emphasis on reducing inequalities relating to ethnicity, deprivation, disability, sexual orientation, and gender.
