RLC is a complex aerospace machining business, manufacturing mainly strangers and aliens for both civil and military customers. RLC has a large variety of processes, including CNC machining, electroplating, heat treatment, metal finishing, paint, tool room and press shop. The Commercial Officer is responsible for supporting and developing the aims and objectives of the commercial function in direct support of the business management leads. Purpose of the Role: The role of the Commercial function is to support the achievement of RLC financial/strategic objectives, to ensure compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and to ensure the commercial integrity of commitments being made on behalf of the company. Working on own initiative, the role holder will oversee the contractual affairs of designated areas within the business unit throughout the entire Project Life Cycle, encompassing management of key elements of the existing contract, commercial control whilst managing contract changes, responding to customer Request For Quotations, subsequent negotiation and closure of opportunities. Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Accountabilities Work closely with the Commercial team, and other functions to ensure robust contract controls are in place and contribute to the achievement of the business mission and vision. Contribute commercial and contract management innovation and provide any functional support required for the implementation of contract changes. Ensure commercial negotiations are favourable to RLC and are working towards delivering upon strategic goals. Ensure the function accurately advises the business on all commercial aspects of the current contracts and future changes to those contracts. Operate to the highest ethical values, ensure that RLC is contractually compliant and compliant to all relevant legislation. Responsibilities Serve as a focal point of contact for RLC business managers and the customer regarding contractual matters by establishing good relationships and communications. Proactive participation in business winning, including: Produce accurate and compliant customer pricing by applying the appropriate pricing strategy and model to cost estimates Ensure that commercial and business processes and procedures are adhered to and that associated internal approvals are in place in line with delegated authorities. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers to deliver the value to the company Assisting Bid Managers to generate Proposal Documentation (statement of work, Risk Register and Executive Summary) matched to Customer requirements Undertaking a commercial review of the full suite of proposal documents. Submission of proposal Ensuring that proposals to customer are priced, developed and approved in accordance with company procedures Support the development and implementation of the negotiation strategy, including payment profiles and associated terms to meet the cash flow requirements of the business. Ensure a robust Contract Baseline is established and maintained, including contractual changes. Adhere to functional procedures. Maintain contractual records, documentation of key correspondence, status and issue reports etc. Undertake Professional Development and Assessment activities with assigned team in accordance with company procedures. Any other task deemed reasonable by the Senior Commercial Officer and Head of Commercial to fulfil the Purpose of the Role.
