In our Payroll Team, we make sure every colleague across Home Group gets paid accurately and on time. It’s a role where attention to detail is everything, and your decisions will have a real impact.
You’ll be the friendly voice on the other end of telephone calls and emails helping colleagues with queries about pay, holidays, and benefits. If you love problem-solving, working with people, and getting things just right, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do
* Accurately process payroll changes, ensuring colleagues are paid correctly and on time.
* Make key payroll decisions, following HMRC rules and Home Group policies.
* Handle pay related queries via phone call and email (and occasionally even face to face), delivering brilliant customer service.
* Check and process absence related pay (like sick pay and maternity/adoption leave).
* Audit colleagues’ expenses to make sure they meet policy and HMRC guidelines.
* Work closely with the wider Payroll team to keep things running smoothly.

What you bring
* Payroll experience OR a strong passion to break into the field (tell us why!).
* Sharp judgement, your decisions will directly impact colleagues' pay.
* A keen eye for detail and a love for getting things right.
* Great people skills, you’ll be supporting colleagues daily with pay queries.
* Confidence using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
* A friendly attitude and a willingness to learn.
Job details
* We answer colleagues phone calls between core hours of 09:00 and 16:00 and expect you to work during those times.
* In this hybrid role, you’ll spend a minimum of 2 days in our central Newcastle upon Tyne office, with the remaining days worked from home.
* The role follows a Monday to Friday pattern, with anchor office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
* You’ll manage your own diary, so if you need to take a longer lunch for a haircut, you can use your flexi time to manage that!
