Modifications and Upgrades Applications Engineer

The Applications Engineer for Modifications and Upgrades is responsible for developing the technical scope for upgrades to the Aeroderivative Gas Turbine, supporting package and controls to support the customer proposals. The AE is an integral part of the project team and is encouraged to interface with Customers, Sales team, APMs, Project Managers, Project Lead Engineers, Key Experts, Tech support, Field Service, and Project Engineering. The AE is responsible to deliver technical data, achieve project requirements, confirm required project hours and costs, and identify potential technical risks to the project.
Travel up to 20% of the time
Responsibilities:
1. Review customer technical specifications (data sheets, P&ID's) and prepare clarifications that provide an acceptable technical solution to both the customer and Siemens.
2. Define the overall scope for the upgrade, including but not limited to Engine, Package Mechanical, Package Electrical, Controls, scope of work complete with required technical definition and associated drawings / drawing markups for the proposal.
3. Confirm cost for scope and associate equipment.
4. Acquire operations delivery dedication for the proposal scope of supply based on the bid strategy established by SDM and customer specifications.
5. Provide technical comments & exceptions to customer specifications.
6. Identify and help mitigate associated risks during the bid phase to achieve a successful execution by the project team.
7. Clear communication of project specifications & requirements to both internal & external supply chain. Provide a clear explanation of agreed commitments and identify deviations from Standard build packages to meet the customer requirements.
8. Communication of committed schedule, cost, and scope.
9. Provide detailed engineering/procurement specifications for Major Buy purchased equipment and review quotes for accuracy to project needs.
10. Provide technical support to the APMs in the proposal presentation and clarifications meetings with the customer.
What you bring:
11. Bachelor of Science in Engineering Field or Engineering Technology
OR equivalent experience
12. Experience with Controls or Mechanical Operation and Design of Aeroderivative Gas Turbines a plus
13. Experience in the interpretation and writing of detailed engineering/equipment specifications.
14. Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse parties with varying technical backgrounds
15. Ability to initiate ideas to resolve sophisticated issues into practical engineering solutions
16. Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite including the following: Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
17. Ability (BOSIET, CA-EBS, MIST, H2S) and willingness to travel to supplier and customer sites to perform site surveys, assessments, customer meetings, and possibly participate in safety discussions
18. Experience in the oil and gas industry and/or power generation industry
19. Experience and knowledge of industry specifications and standards
20. Experience with Siemens AGT packages (SGT-A65, SGT-A35, SGT-A20, SGT-A05) is highly desired
21. Experience in conducting site visits to evaluate existing equipment is preferred
22. Familiarity with shop safety practices
