Responsibilities Preparation of FE models to internal model quality guidelines using pre-processing software, including meshing, assembly, application of suitable material models, loads and boundary conditions. Using commercial FEA codes to perform static strength, stiffness and durability analyses to guide the design of a vehicle. Using appropriate static and dynamic analysis software packages to solve problems involving linear elastic and non-linear elastic/plastic material models, small and large deformation behaviour, and contact. Interpreting analysis results using post-processing software and formally documenting analysis methodology, results and conclusions within analysis reports where required Presenting analysis results to internal and external customers, providing recommendations on possible design optimisation to save weight and/or improve performance Assisting in preparation of analysis cost and timing for the project team Communicating with internal customers on a day-to-day basis, as well as the design and project management team. Maintaining analysis and project documentation to satisfy the quality management system and other internal requirements. Essential Skills Engineering or Maths / Physics degree, higher OR equivalent Knowledge and experience of Hyperworks, Optistruct/Nastran or other FEA software Relevant simulation experience and experience of analysing test data Intermediate knowledge of core FEA codes Ability to demonstrate hand calculations to support FE analysis Work with minimal supervision and can work under own initiative, but still work on direct instruction from management Awareness: Project deliverables, customer processes. Has a flexible approach to working Represents the company internally & externally with acceptable professional standard Intermediate skills in at least one core discipline Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/ provided.
