The ideal candidate will hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in one of the following:
* Childhood or Childcare
* Education Studies
* Relevant qualifications in a similar field
To be successful in this role, candidates should have experience in:
* Planning and Observing: Supporting and promoting development and progress in Early Years children.
* IT Proficiency: Using IT-based tools such as iPads, tablets, and computers to track and document progress through pictures and videos (e.g., Tapestry).
* Observation and Assessment: Identifying and nurturing child development.
* Personal Care: Providing appropriate personal care as needed, varying by setting.
While not mandatory, the following skills would be advantageous:
* Speech and Language Support: Experience or training in speech and language development.
* Energy and Enthusiasm: A vibrant, engaging approach to childcare.
* Caring Nature: A nurturing and compassionate personality.
* Communication Skills: Proficiency in speaking and listening observations.
* Fun and Friendly: A warm, cheerful demeanour that matches the nursery environment.
We collaborate with nurseries and EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) settings across Lincoln and the surrounding areas. Access to reliable transport is preferred, and good availability is required to take on bookings, whether planned or on short notice. We will place you in schools and nurseries that you can feasibly reach.
In this role, you will engage with small groups of children or work as part of a team to support larger groups. As a Nursery Class Assistant, your daily activities will be designed to foster progression and assess progress, helping to shape future activities that align with each child's needs and potential. Basic behaviour management skills will be essential for maintaining a positive learning environment. Your passion and dedication will create a safe, inclusive, and fun atmosphere where children feel valued and encouraged to explore.
If you have experience or a particular skill set related to SEN (Special Educational Needs), you may be tasked with supporting children on a 1-1 basis.
