As a Freelance Garment Technologist, you will support the Technical Manager, attending fit meetings and writing comments for several multi-product womenswear accounts at this leading supplier. Working to retailer manuals, you will be responsible for ensuring development and production samples conform to fit, make, fabric, quality, and sizing standards. The role requires expertise in multi-product womenswear with the flexibility to work across a wide range of styles from day to evening, including soft separates, dresses, casual wovens, nightwear, and jersey.

Duration: 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) for a month
Office based: Nearest station: Camden Tube
Main Responsibilities
* Maintain standard measurements and record and measure against specifications for development and production samples.
* Ensure fit and sizing conform to the sealed sample.
* Maintain grading and sizing rules for each garment type.
* Ensure all technical specifications are clear and all measurement requests are consistent with the standard measurements.
* Measure all samples prior to fitting to ensure they conform to the size specifications, flagging any variances.
* Attend fit meetings and ensure samples conform to the designer’s vision and are of the correct quality.
* Record detailed fit comments and update tech packs for the factories to ensure amendments are accurately reflected in future samples or production.
* Proactively solve any specific make or construction queries during fit meetings, collaborating with the internal team where required.
* Review and maintain consistency in sewing rules.
Essential Skills
* Garment Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-product womenswear.
* Experience working across a wide range of styles from day to evening, including soft separates, dresses, casual wovens, nightwear, and jersey.
* Expertise fitting to Gold Seal standard.
* Excellent fabric knowledge across woven and jersey from delicate to structured fabrics, including technical components and sewing techniques.
* Expertise in fitting garments and writing detailed comments with supporting photos and diagrams as required.
* Good working knowledge of pattern cutting is an advantage.
* Collaborative positive team player.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proactive in solving problems on the spot in fit meetings.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
