Job responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Royal Devon Patient Safety Team as the Clinical Risk Manager. The Trust has transferred to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and redesigned its risk management processes to reflect NHS Providers best practice guidance, utilising the Enterprise Risk Management approach.
The post holder will manage the Central Risk and Investigation Team, being responsible for leading, promoting, and facilitating effective risk management and assurance across all areas of the organisation; establishing processes and procedures that meet the Trust's statutory responsibilities.
They will provide a combination of subject matter expertise, particularly relating to risk, incident management, assessing and monitoring assurance, and hold management skills to develop and maintain strong performance; working with Care Group Safety and Quality leads across the organisation to enable the Trust to demonstrate its compliance with national policies and standards.
They will be accountable for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Trust's Risk Management Policy as well as trust policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient incident investigation and learning from deaths, ensuring these comply with national and regional requirements and the corporate agenda.
The post holder will be required to provide advice, prepare and present strategic reports and briefings for Board sub-committees, Care Group management teams, and clinical leads as required. Working collaboratively with the identified key stakeholders across the organisation and effectively engage with multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams on service redesign and improvement activity.
They will lead the process of incident investigations and ensure responses are prepared within timescales. This will include providing advice to Trust staff on best practices and appropriate measures to be taken to ensure that positive outcomes are achieved.
As a Senior Manager, you will be required to act as on-call Senior Manager or Senior Nurse as part of your rostered duties.
Person Specification
We are looking for an experienced professional (Registered Nurse/Midwife or Health professional / or specialist qualification in Health and Safety and Risk Management), who is educated to Masters level (or equivalent) with a proven track record of service management at a senior level, preferably with healthcare acute hospital experience. You will have the ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and implement practical and workable solutions. Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate, and involve individuals and teams are essential.
Working Pattern
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. There will be a requirement to be part of the Trust's on-call roster, and an occasional requirement to work unsocial hours to meet work requirements (e.g. to observe practice as part of an investigation).
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £62,215 to £72,293 per annum pro rata
