Mediplacements are seeking a driven and motivated band 6 Adult Dietitian to work at our client's hospital in London. The pay for this position is £23-£28 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for a 3 month duration. Successful candidates must be HCPC registered. Job Purpose Nutrition support / oncology Dietitian To provide guidance in the diagnosis, management and treatments of in-patients who are nutritionally at risk or who require therapeutic diets within the acute wards in general and specifically using specialist knowledge and expertise in dietetic management of nutrition support and oncology patients, at Colchester Hospital To provide cover to other dietetic specialist areas when required. To be the dietetic lead for allocated patients at case conferences and within the multi-disciplinary team. To support colleagues in service developments and audit within specialist areas as required To provide support and supervision to band 5 dietitians, assistant practitioners and dietetic assistants. To contribute to student training. To be a responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based dietetic service to a complex case load of patients in a variety of community care settings, which could include outpatient clinics, care homes and patients' homes. To manage a caseload of home visits To manage a caseload of Home Enterally fed patients To promote the MUST and Food First projects, as well as, support the promotion of cost effective prescribing of oral nutritional supplements. To provide education and training for professional colleagues on aspects of nutritional and dietary care as required. To contribute to the dietetic service in the community providing a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals and social care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team. To provide specialist input into the planning, development and evaluation of dietetic services within your team and for defined projects. Clinical Responsibilities - General ▪To provide a specialist dietetic service to inpatients, outpatients & community hospitals and patients in their own homes and their carers within North east Essex Community Services ▪To provide nutritional assessment and dietetic intervention, on an individual basis, using biochemistry, anthropometry, clinical condition and other physical parameters, contributing to the diagnosis of nutrition related disorders ▪To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work ▪To communicate effectively with patients, carers and other health professionals to ensure understanding of therapeutic diets and/or nutritional support ▪To be aware of barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing or vision, expressive and receptive dysphagia, cognitive impairment, pain and fear, and to use highly developed communication skills of persuasion, motivation, empathy and ability to gain informed consent, to overcome these barriers. ▪To provide nutritional treatment advice, information and support to patients and their carers with a variety of medical conditions ▪To discuss / instruct medical, nursing, other HCP and catering staff to effect change in the patients' nutritional status ▪To communicate complex patient-related information effectively to relevant parties to ensure seamless care is provided. ▪To be competent to apply principles into practice ▪To decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands and to manage caseload in an efficient and timely way. ▪To work in accordance with the standards set by the British Dietetic Association and the Health and Care Professions Council ▪To input data onto the electronic patient record ▪To participate in departmental and clinical audit ▪To support other members of the team and provide cover in their absence ▪To maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with legal and departmental requirements and to communicate outcomes to the appropriate disciplines in the form of letters and reports When you work with Mediplacements, you will have access to a range of benefits that will support you in your role.
