A well-qualified and enthusiastic A Level Sociology teacher is required to join our thriving Sociology department.
Sociology is a popular subject area within the college, and the post would suit either an experienced teacher or a newly qualified ECT, for whom support would be available. Sociology currently follows the AQA specification (Family, Education, Theory and Methods, Crime and Deviance and Belief are taught as topics).
Qualifications: Good degree together with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET).
Experience: Current teaching or recent experience of teaching A Level Sociology and related courses is desirable. Applications from ECTs are very welcome. AQA Exam board experience is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills: You should have excellent subject knowledge and be a reflective and inspirational practitioner. We are looking for teachers who have the ability to employ a range of teaching and learning methods to ensure that a diverse range of learners can achieve the very best outcomes.
Personal Qualities: With excellent teamwork, organisation and communication skills, you will be enthusiastic and inspirational.
Motivation and Expectations: A commitment to high standards and a drive to motivate, inspire and support Level 3 students. A commitment to the personal development of students, including trips, visits and enrichment activities.
There are approximately 118 students in the 1A cohort and 127 in 2A. The subject area is positioned within the faculty of Business.
Members of the teaching staff are also personal tutors. Tutors monitor progress and offer support and guidance to some 25 students. The ability to contribute to our extensive enrichment programme would also be welcome.

Salary Range: On the SFCA salary scale £32,178 (Point 1) to £49,725 (Point 9).
