The people in our care, families, and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do.
Main duties of the job
The postholder's main day-to-day clinical role is providing Consultant Psychiatrist input for the Older Peoples Service.
There is currently one large team working with older people in Central Norfolk Locality, which is split into four sectors, each with a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist. With the advent of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) these sectors are being realigned to support the development of the local PCNs. The post being advertised will serve the Norwich PCN. The all-age population for this sector is 126,905.
The Community Team's core operating hours are 9-5pm. Although the Trust does support flexible working arrangements in agreement with the line manager.
The community team covers three main functions: Memory assessment and treatment services for patients with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions and "core services" for people above the age of 70 with various mental disorders without dementia (such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, and other serious mental disorders) which have associated risks and mental health presentations.
