Working within a project team, you'll gain further experience and develop skills in structural engineering, whilst undertaking design, inspection and assessment for a wide spectrum of buildings and civils projects. Working in our Colwyn Bay office as a structural engineer, you will be working on a range of buildings, civil, coastal defence, flood alluviation, highway and power projects from concept to construction. You will gain responsibility not only for design development but also for quality standards and programme & budget. Our structural engineers work collaboratively with a diverse range of disciplines such as civil, geotechnical, highways, water & environmental, to create sustainable solutions which contribute to the well-being of society. Responsibilities will include: • Designing and detailing structural solutions that are safe, economical, practical and sustainable. • Successfully carrying out structural calculations, analysis and modelling. • Effectively communicating through sketches, drawings, digital modelling, calculations, meetings, presentations, discussions, emails, written reports and electronic messages. • Working as part of a team on interesting projects large and small to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives. • Undertaking structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber. • Producing good quality technical drawings, reports and surveys. • Working effectively and collaboratively with teams. • Learning design methods, codes of practice, software and construction techniques. Candidate specification: We are looking for a flexible and motivated structural engineer with a genuine passion for structural engineering and a genuine desire to make a difference in the world. To apply for this role, you will have commercial experience in engineering and have a Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering accredited by the ICE or IStructE. Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered or associate status (MICE or MIStructE). In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience. We are looking for a Structural Engineering with the following characteristics: • Methodical approach to problem solving and strong numerical skills. • Experience in designing structures to Eurocode standards. • Effective computer skills and experience of structural design software such as Revit and Tekla. • Experience in structural engineering design and construction. • Ability to produce accurate technical drawings and good report writing. • Proficient in using your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members. • Excellent written communication and attention to detail. • Capable of planning your work logically to successfully meet deadlines. • Competent in working collaboratively and in teams. • Take responsibility for the quality of your work, for your own learning and professional development.
