We are seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join a welcoming team in Newcastle upon Tyne on a full-time, temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Role Overview:
As a SEND Support Assistant, you will assist students with a range of learning needs, ensuring they are fully supported in the classroom and throughout the school day. You will work closely with teaching staff to help create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND
* Assist with classroom tasks, including helping students with learning activities and resources
* Support students with personal care needs, if necessary
* Encourage positive behavior and assist with managing any challenging situations
* Work closely with teachers to ensure students’ individual needs are met
* Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
What We Are Looking For:
* A passion for helping children with special educational needs
* Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial, but not essential
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
* An understanding of SEND is desirable, but training will be provided
* Flexibility and a positive attitude
