SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time Only
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. You will be supporting students aged 10-19 with complex needs such as Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions, helping them flourish in a positive and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting the academic and personal development of our students. Working closely with the class teacher, you will assist in delivering tailored learning activities that promote independence, positive behaviour, and social and emotional growth in a safe and nurturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in planning and evaluating lessons and learning activities.
2. Provide regular feedback on student progress and development.
3. Monitor and report on students' progress, ensuring compliance with school policies.
4. Support behaviour management by adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
5. Encourage social, emotional, and personal development in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
6. Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
7. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport).
8. GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
9. Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
10. Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
11. Creative, adaptable, and able to tailor support to individual student needs.
