Clinical Operations Lead, Autism Assessment Pathway
We are really pleased to be offering an exciting new opportunity to experienced leaders who have an in-depth understanding of autism and an interest in service development. We are seeking applications from a number of different professional disciplines including psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and nursing.
The Autism Assessment Pathway (AAP) accepts referrals for young people living in Bedfordshire and Luton who are over the age of 13.
The post-holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. As a band 8a Senior clinician, the post-holder will hold full professional autonomy and self-management.
The Autism Assessment Pathway is held within the CAMHS Neurodevelopmental team (NDT) who offer assessments and creative interventions to children and young people who have Autism and/or intellectual disabilities. The NDT is part of Bedfordshire CAMHS which is a large, dynamic and successful CAMHs service comprising of various teams. We offer regular opportunities for staff to undertake individualised CPD and provide opportunities for staff wishing to 'act up' into more senior roles on occasion.
Main duties of the job
Bedfordshire CAMHs has a thriving service-user participation group which meets regularly to consider service development initiatives. The successful applicant would have the opportunity to join in a number of quality improvement (QI) projects which can lead to innovations within the Service.
The post-holder will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.

Job responsibilities
The successful senior clinician will offer proven experience in the field of working with our client group and will also be able to offer supervision and consultations to other staff as well as to families. There will be scope to develop areas of specialist practice and/or research plus the opportunity for further training.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualification/ Training
* A qualification and professional registration in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy.
* Evidence of successful completion of post-graduate courses relevant to Autism.
* Relevant post-graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Substance misuse or equivalent.
* Evidence of successful completion of post-graduate diagnostic training such as ADOS, 3DI.
Experience
* Significant post-graduate clinical experience in paediatrics.
* Relevant experience at post-graduate level, including in-depth knowledge and experience of working with children with autism.
* Experience of providing autism diagnostic assessments and differential diagnosis.
* Experience of working in an autism diagnostic pathway.
* Experience of line management and supervision of other staff.
* Experience of leading service improvement work.
Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently as appropriate.
* Ability to operationally lead the AAP service and assume leadership responsibilities within a specialist multi-disciplinary team.
* Advanced knowledge of evidence-based/best practice with the clinical specialism.
* Ability to develop data systems, collate, analyze and monitor performance data for the service.
Other
