You will have experience of being a Solidworks design engineer from Mechanical, Industrial, aerospace or product background. You will be responsible for mechanical design, producing drawings in a controlled manner, and working with the design team and purchasing department through design and development, concept through to implementation. The products can include computer systems fixed or portable, communications equipment. Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or significant relative experience in a similar role Please note that this role will be subject to Security Clearance. As such, factors including your nationality, previous nationalities that you may have held, and your place of birth may affect your eligibility to apply for this role. - Working with the design team to: · Design and 3D modelling of assemblies including metalwork, sheet metal fabrication and machined metal using solidworks. · Design and 3D modelling plastics for Rapid prototyping, soft tooling and hard tooling using solidworks. · Create and maintain part numbers and drawing numbers using Drawing and ECN register and MRP system. -Liaise with colleagues and project teams to ensure collaboration over product development processes. -Drawing and maintaining technical wiring diagrams. -Create and maintain BOM (Bill of Materials) using MRP System. -Apply the Engineering Change Process to effectively introduce design changes. -Provide support, as required, to the Purchasing/Supply Chain. -Work in harmony with relevant suppliers and manufacturers; maintaining strong working relationships. -Expert knowledge in Solidworks 3D CAD. Experience in Inventor & Siemens NX are also acceptable. -Ability to generate rendered images suitable for customer review and marketing. -Have security clearance or be able to gain security clearance (UK national). -Experience within fabrication/assembly, electrical wiring, crimping, soldering, plastic moulding knowledge. -Good knowledge of computer systems hardware, being able to specify components and build a computer from scratch. -Experience of design to meet EMC and environmental standards/requirements. -Familiar with PC programs including Microsoft Suite and Microsoft Project.
