A client of ours in the Basildon area are recruiting a Customs Clerk to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm and paying £27,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Completing day to day Customs Clearing and entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments, including EADs & T1s. Create, manage and maintain the correct documentation as each case progresses.
2. Maintain Data input accuracy.
3. Deal with customer enquiries, providing accurate advice and estimates when required.
4. Liaising with external organisations e.g. HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers etc.
5. Obtain necessary Bill of Ladings and correct Tariff Headings. Obtain payments from customers in line with company policy.
6. Calculating Duty / VAT cost for each consignment
7. Processing Import/Export declarations
8. Dealing with general enquiries relating to documentation requirements
9. Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
10. Communicating with different departments to prepare a complete list of jobs (Shipments requiring customs entries) for the day.
11. Any other duties which may be required.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Customs Clerk position:
12. 2 + years Customs Clearance experience.
13. HMRC customs declarations experience.
14. Excellent attention to detail.
15. 1 + year Customs Imports experience.
16. Excellent communication skills.
17. Experience within the Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain industry.
