Advert Roads and Infrastructure Storeperson (Permanent) (17/164) Newton Stewart £26,766 - £28,419 Transport & Infrastructure, Roads Service are looking to recruit a storeperson at their Barnkirk Depot in Newton Stewart. You will work 36 hours per week. You will assist and provide support to Team Leader Road Network Management with ordering and receipting of goods for three depots within the West of the Dumfries and Galloway (Abercromby Depot at Castle Douglas, Barnkirk Depot and Commerce Road Depot Stranraer). Your duties will include general store keeping practices associated with the receipt, storage and distribution of goods through electronic stores management. • Undertake all duties as required within the receipt, storage, stock control, issue, uplift, and delivery functions within the services. • Responsible for maintaining accurate records relating to the stock control and delivery functions within the service. • Adhere to and ensure quality standards of service are met at all times in relation to all commodities. • Procuring materials/goods & services, including raising purchase orders and receiving goods in line with Best Value and Council policy and procedures. • To ensure deliveries to correct locations/depots, collection/drop off materials/stock to and from sites, where necessary. • Utilise systems and software, including mobile devices and promote use of systems to maximise efficiency and improvements. • To participate in the continuous improvement of service delivery ensuring that policies and procedures comply with legislation and regulatory requirements It is essential that you have knowledge in the following areas, Educated to SCQF Level 4 or equivalent. Relevant health and safety training, experience of stores environment. Receiving, monitoring and dispatching of order materials, plant and small tools and understanding basic cost control. Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines are also essential for the post holder. It is also desirable but not essential you have: LGV Class 2 Driving licence, Telehandler operator certification, and First Aid Certification. You must be flexible, self-motivated, able to work under pressure to deadlines, possess good organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with staff, the public and contractors. You should be a team player with good oral/written communication skills. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
