Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Northwest UK
Salary: £50k
Contract: 6 months fixed term, option to extend
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join a leading engineering company known for delivering high-quality, complex fabrications and advanced engineering solutions. This role is pivotal in supporting manufacturing processes and driving improvements in product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and improve manufacturing processes for complex large fabrications.
2. Identify and implement improvements, including cycle time reduction, error-proofing, and fixture design.
3. Use quality data to prioritize and deliver improvement action plans.
4. Drive operational improvement culture with a focus on customer satisfaction and lean principles.
5. Coordinate cross-functional activities to optimize cost performance and minimize waste.
6. Lead structured problem-solving and process improvement initiatives, such as 8D methodologies.
7. Provide input on manufacturability during the new product development process.
8. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
9. Implement corrective actions to address manufacturing quality issues effectively.
What We're Looking For:
1. HND or Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's degree is a plus).
2. Proven experience in a similar role within a technical or industrial environment.
3. Knowledge of lean principles and manufacturing improvement techniques.
4. Experience working with SAP for planning (advantageous).
5. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
