The department has seen significant investment in 2022/23 leading to a clinically-led rebuild and expansion of the senior clinician teams. Our small, dynamic, and friendly department is based in beautiful Harrogate with endless countryside at the doorstep. Main duties of the job
To work with Consultant colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that the team and department delivers a high quality, well-led service for Emergency patients attending Harrogate & District Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an exceptional individual who has the ability, skills, and vision to support and lead our excellent team of junior doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to improve our services to the benefit of patients and colleagues working within the Emergency department.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To provide clinical responsibility for patients under his/her care when working in the ED or when on-call. This includes direct care of patients and supervision of medical staff.
* To provide leadership for the Trauma Team.
* To share in the training and development of nursing, medical, and other staff groups where appropriate.
* To be actively involved in the management, supervision, and training of junior medical staff.
* To take an active role in departmental clinical governance including risk management, risk reporting procedures, audit, and guideline/procedure development/implementation.
* Education and training delivery – formal and informal.
* Medical and ACP workforce educational and clinical supervision.
* Support the Minors Care Stream including clinical supervision of Urgent Care Practitioners.
* Development and application of clinical guidelines and policies.
* Quality Improvement/ Clinical audit/evidence-based practice/research.
Person specification
Knowledge
* Primary Medical Qualification, MBBS or equivalent, FRCEM and CCT (or within 6 months of entry by either CCT or CESR).
* Significant experience working as a senior clinician in Emergency Medicine.
* Participation in quality improvement project.
* Leading a QIP.
