Job Summary As a Security/Ops Engineer, you will be an integral part of the IT Security Team, responsible for the support and ongoing development of the cutting-edge security tools and technologies used to protect our organization's IT infrastructure from cyber threats. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure a robust security posture and contribute to the continuous improvement of our security operations. Key Responsibilities Support and continually develop the IT security systems, suggesting appropriate new tools, automations & counter measures. Collaborate with colleagues across the Business Systems team, to ensure that the scope of coverage of security systems is aligned with the changing system. Monitor the performance of the security functions of the wider IT system, that are managed by other IT teams, to ensure that performance is at the required level. Drive the Vulnerability Management Programme to ensure that gaps and failings in patching and remediation activities are identified quickly and escalated to the appropriate parties. Represent the IT Security team on the Business Systems Change Board and in Business Systems projects, ensuring that security requirements are being considered. Manage the preparation and host the 3rd parties during security audits and assessments. Prepare regular reports on the performance of the security systems, to confirm that performance requires are being met and identify areas of improvement Prepare and maintain security system documentation. Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies. Develop dependable relationships with critical 3rd party security providers Support security analyst activities and incident response. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Relevant certifications include CompTIA Security, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), and CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). Required skills: Experience with security monitoring tools and technologies, malware protection and network security systems. Ability to analyse complex security issues and develop effective solutions. Experience of cyber incident response and handling. Keen eye for identifying potential security threats. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Capable of clear communication and promoting teamwork among colleagues. Effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively educate staff and report findings. Effective problem-solving skills to address security challenges Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Technical Proficiency : Proficient understanding of IT security tools and services (inc SIEM, EDR, XDR, vulnerability management etc). Comprehensive understanding of wider IT systems (inc Operating Systems, Identity & Access Control, networking, patching etc) and cloud services (inc M365, Azure, AWS etc) Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
