Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery.
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.
As an Occupational Therapist Assistant you will be:
1. To work as part of the Occupational Therapy Department allocated to a specific named service user.
2. To assist Occupational Therapists, Primary Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
3. To work in conjunction with other OTAs to develop a hospital-wide out of hours structured activity programme
4. To assist in delivering a high standard of support and care to patients and their carer’s, promoting their equality, dignity and mental well being at all times.
5. To work with individuals to facilitate access and engagement in a range of activities, working across boundaries of care and organisations.
6. To ensure that service users understand and are assisted to engage in pathways of care across sector/agency boundaries.
7. To work with service users to achieve their identified goals and access appropriate services provided on a regular and consistent basis.
8. To engage in regular supervision and professional development activities consistent with the requirements of the post.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
9. GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2
10. Verbal and written communication skills
11. Ability to deal sensitively with distress, disturbance and unpredictability
12. Be accessible and flexible in availability
13. Demonstrate a good basic understanding of mental health issues;
14. Show a creative and imaginative approach to problem solving;
15. Have the practical skills to assist daily living;
Where you will be working:
Castleholme Lodge is situated in Huddersfield with excellent transport links to the surrounding areas. It is undergoing a complete refurbishment to ensure best environment for service users and staff to thrive in.
Castleholme Lodge will be a 20 bed Care Home with nursing, providing a range of mental health services for adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. It will form part of a cluster of Elysium services across the Yorkshire and Midlands region that work closely together in support of each other.
