Job Description
Azenta Life Sciences is the leading worldwide provider of robotic compound management and biological sample storage systems.
The Controls Engineer / Automation Development Engineer will work within a cross-functional team on new product development and research and development projects.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Responsible for the system integration/development and validation of all Azenta Life Science automated store products.
2. Integrating/configuring and developing system solutions which include automation and robotics equipment.
3. Carrying out various tests from component level to full system life cycle tests to help assess their function.
4. Serves as the primary technical interface (automation specialist) within a cross-functional development team, providing support to Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Software departments.
5. Support any quality investigations.
6. Work within a team or under their own initiative.
7. Create/maintain engineering documentation of test results for analysis.
8. Defining processes and test procedures.
The position
1. General supervision of work with assignments that require a thorough and practical knowledge of the technical or business discipline.
2. May be assigned larger projects as part of product development or continuous improvement process.
3. Training will be provided for the right individual.
4. Occasional international site travel may be required for training, investigation, or support, very infrequent.
What You'll Bring
1. Experience working within an automation industry or similar role.
2. Preferably servo motion control experience but not compulsory as training will be provided.
3. Logical thinking and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
4. Willingness to learn and tackle new technologies.
5. Excellent PC skills and report writing skills, predominantly Excel and Word.
6. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
7. An ability to record actions step by step in order to retrace steps when an issue is found.
8. Proficient with tools, systems, and procedures required by the work.
