We have a newly created position within the residency Team for a Drug & Alcohol Recovery Specialist. You will work closely with internal and external partners to develop needs-led, recovery-focused services and tailored support that continues beyond their release to deliver long-term change.
Holding overall accountability for the development and performance of the Substance Misuse Strategy, you will manage the achievement of qualitative and quantitative standards including Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs), verifying and signing off documentation as appropriate.
You will develop resettlement activities and sign posting for drug and alcohol users prior to release and develop suite of drug strategy management information.
Develop partnerships with internal and external partners to ensure:
* Commitment and awareness of the Substance Misuse Strategy between prisoners, staff and other internal and external partners is actively encouraged.
* Outcomes for drug or alcohol services are measured and achieved.
* Services are integrated within the prison and external providers and local authorities
* Development of community links across the region monitoring changes in population
* Intervention programmes are delivered
* Interfacing with the prison stabilisation unit to ensure all areas of service delivery are coordinated and functioning effectively in line with national guidance.
* Establishment’s drug and alcohol services are in accordance with national and HMPPS policy and best practise
* Changes to drug services commissioning and Healthcare provision is communicated and integrated into service delivery as required
* Accountable for managing professional relationships between HMPPS staff, healthcare provider and other service drug and alcohol agencies and external commissioners.
* Compile reports relating to the supply of illicit substances utilising information from a variety of sources, identifying any actions that will limit the availability and use of drugs.
* Accountable for conducting needs analysis of the prison population and hold prisoner and family focus groups to determine changes in need, adapting services in accordance with findings.
* Responsible for developing and managing the Drug Recovery Wing, working with to ensure the pilot delivers meaningful outcomes and long-term benefits for the prisoner and community.
* Improve links with LA, CRC and health providers to ensure that prisoners can transition into the community safely
* Chair the Substance Misuse Strategy meeting under Deputy Directors guidance.
* Develop and implement new and innovative concepts to improve outcomes for prisoners including family inclusion, IT solutions, programme delivery etc.
What you’ll need to do the role
Within this new role, you will play a fundamental part in spotting gaps in service provision and continuously working towards improving services. You will use your analytical skills and experience to analyse and act upon data which is relevant to the Substance Misuse Strategy.
Passion and knowledge of Regional/community Drug and Alcohol Service Providers and Drug Treatment regimes so that you can hit the ground running and start making an immediate impact!
Finally, an excellent influencer/communicator with ability to engage with internal/external service providers across Yorkshire Region.
