Job summary As an integral member of the HSDU team, the post holder will provide a Decontamination service to all wards/departments throughout the Trust i.e. Main Theatres, Day Surgery Unit, Short Stay Unit, Treatment Centre, Central Delivery Suite, as well as all external customers. Based at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, the HSDU processes surgical equipment for our Operating Theatres, internal wards and departments plus external clients such as GP Surgeries. 22hrs per week over five days 1800-2130 and includes a Sunday 1000-1800 Please note this position is Fixed Term for 12 months with a view to extend at the end of that period. Main duties of the job We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals to join our busy team. The department is responsible for the cleaning, inspection, assembly, packing and sterilising of surgical equipment. No experience is necessary as full training will be given. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent team working and communication skills, the ability to work under their own initiative and commitment to the provision of a quality service. To reprocess reusable Medical Devices in a controlled environment. To receive and prepare contaminated equipment for decontamination through automated washers. To disassemble and manually clean equipment as per manufacturers instructions ready for washing. To reassemble and package equipment as per customer requirements. To load packaged equipment into the sterilisers, unload and despatch. To safely operate decontamination equipment and undertake routine testing as required. To clean workstations on a daily basis and dispose of clinical/household waste as required. To report any defects or discrepancies found with the equipment to the Team Leaders. To scan instrument trays onto the Floor Management System (computerised tracking system) to enable tracing. To assist in maintaining adequate stock levels of all raw materials.
