The Kitchen Porter is responsible forensuring the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen andsurrounding areas. They are responsible for cleaning andmaintaining kitchen equipment washing dishes and ensuring that thekitchen is safe and hygienic. They may also assist with basic foodpreparation tasks as required.
KeyResponsibilities:
Ensure thekitchen and surrounding areas are kept clean and hygienic at alltimes.
Wash dishes cutlery pots and pans andother kitchen utensils ensuring they are cleaned to a highstandard.
Assist with basic food preparationtasks such as chopping vegetables preparing salads and assemblingsandwiches.
Clean and maintain kitchen equipmentsuch as ovens grills and fryers ensuring they are in good workingorder.
Dispose of kitchen waste and recycling ina safe and hygienic manner.
Sweep and mopkitchen floors and ensure they are free from any spills orhazards.
Ensure that all cleaning and sanitisingagents are used correctly and safely.
Followhealth and safety procedures at all times including wearingappropriate protective clothing and footwear.
Report any accidents or incidents to the Head Chef/Kitchen Managerimmediately.
Assist with any other duties asrequired by the Head Chef/KitchenManager.
Qualifications :
Previous experience workingin a commercial kitchen is preferred but notessential.
Knowledge of basic food safety andhygiene practices.
Good communication andinterpersonal skills.
Ability to work well in ateam environment.
Physically fit and able tolift heavyobjects.
