Job Description
Horst Excavating is looking for an experienced Equipment Operator with a CDL A and experience hauling heavy equipment.
As an Equipment Operator you'll be expected to perform the following with the highest degree of precision and quality:
* Operate and maintain excavating machinery and equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, utility, site, or highway construction projects.
* Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
* Be attentive to and participate in the total quality process. Communicate any concerns or potential long-term performance issues to supervisor.
Must be proficient in at least one of the following pieces of equipment:
* Excavator
* Dozer
* Loader
* Wheel Loader
* Skid Loader
* Backhoe
Other Minimum Qualifications
* Requires basic academic education, through at least 8th grade (or equivalent). Vocational training preferred.
* Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
* Must have some prior experience operating excavating heavy equipment.
* Minimum 1 year of general labor experience in excavation required.
* Must have the ability to apply basic shop mathematics.
* Basic skill level in use of measuring instruments and simple tools required.
* A current valid CDL A (manual transmission) is required, as well as continued clearances necessary for medical card requirements needed to keep CDL active.
* Must be able to load and operate a 33,000 lbs. single axle dump truck with a 40,000 lbs. tag-along trailer.
* Ability to perform labor tasks (shoveling, raking, minor pipe work, tamping). Able to lift up to 100 lbs.
* Will be required to obtain all clearances required to work on school projects, including but not limited to the Pennsylvania and Federal criminal history records, fingerprint submission, Act 34 background check, and Act 151 child abuse clearances.
