How you'll make an impact
The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting the finance team with accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process invoices, payments, and send remittance.
* Bookkeeping duties, including managing direct debits and standing orders.
* Process and pay employee expenses in line with company policy.
* Monitor accounts payable and receivable, following up with suppliers as needed.
* Assist with monthly bank and trade reconciliations, investigating discrepancies.
* Support payroll processing.
* Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with internal policies.
* Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
* Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Assist in responses for the annual audit.
* Support VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
* Work on ad-hoc projects as required by the finance department and Directors.
* Manage company cash flow requirements, ensuring sufficient funds for trading activities.

* You are familiar with accounting software (ideally Hubdoc and Xero, or similar).
* You have strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

* You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* You are highly organised and can manage multiple tasks effectively.
* You can work independently and maintain confidentiality in financial matters.
* You are happy to be office-based.
Desirable Skills:
* Degree educated.
* Familiarity with budgeting, financial forecasting, and management reports.
* AAT or equivalent accounting qualification.
