Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) Director
Future Build Recruitment are seeking a HSQE Director to join a well established Demolition and Waste Management specialist. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic plans to drive high standards of health, safety, environmental, and sustainability performance.
* Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and standards while engaging with senior leadership.
* Lead the development and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures for HSQE management.
* Oversee audit and assurance activities to meet legal and insurance requirements.
* Promote a strong safety culture and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and training on HSQE matters for employees and subcontractors.
* Conduct performance reviews, compliance evaluations, and audits in collaboration with senior management.
* Manage ISO 45001, 9001, and 14001 accreditations and support external accreditation processes.
* Monitor and analyse performance data, ensuring effective incident investigation and reporting.
* Review accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring lessons learned are effectively shared.
* Manage the recruitment and development of the HSQE team, including coaching and mentoring.
* Act as the organisation’s lead on safety, providing expert guidance across all functions.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
* Strong technical knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and guidance, with expertise in quality, sustainability, and environmental procedures.
* Proven experience leading HSQE functions within a relevant industry.
* Understanding of environmental permitting and regulatory requirements.
* Experience in budget management.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop and mentor teams and operational managers.
* Collaborative approach to decision-making, empowering teams while maintaining clear expectations.
* Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office and management systems.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications
* Chartered Member of a recognised health and safety professional body.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
* Full UK driving licence.
