Job Description
A unique opportunity to contribute to a £200 million heavy Civil Engineering project in North Wales. The principal contractor, delivering a major project in Snowdonia, requires a Section Engineer to join their team on a technically complex scheme that involves the removal of existing pylons and the construction of 3.4km of tunnel to carry electricity cabling.
As a Section Engineer, you will work on a 10-days on, 4-days off rotation (approximately 90 hours over a 2-week period).
The project is situated in the Snowdonia National Park, where our client offers accommodation/travel subsistence to employees.
Your key responsibilities as a Section Engineer include:
* Identifying required materials and procuring them to support the programme of planned works, monitoring stock levels, and arranging restocking as needed.
* Maintaining a working knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work within your area of responsibility, identifying and recording any changes to scope, including delays.
* Producing and issuing technical queries to resolve erroneous or incomplete design information, distributing responses to relevant parties.
* Managing junior staff, including workload allocation, to ensure works are completed to support the correct delivery of the project.
* Creating and maintaining a detailed resourced look-ahead programme of all planned works, including subcontractors, which supports the contract programme.
* Reviewing progress against the programme on a weekly basis, identifying areas of variance.
* Ensuring all permits, inductions, task briefs, and documentation required are in place, approved, and briefed to all relevant parties before work commences.
* Producing and gaining approval of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including those for subcontracted works.
* Preparing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including details of proposed remedial works, for approval by others.
The ideal candidate should possess:
* Previous experience working as a TBM/Tunnel Engineer.
* A valid CSCS card.
* A good understanding of commercial and contractual requirements.
* Excellent communication skills.
* HND/HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering.
Salary and benefits package includes:
* £45,000 - £50,000 plus 15% shift uplift (£51,750 - £57,500).
* £5,000 car allowance or company vehicle.
* Up to £14,000 accommodation subsistence (taxable) depending on location.
