You will have full responsibility for all on site finance and work in tandem with the Group FC who works on another site, alongside their wider team of 6.

Job Description
The key responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant will be to:
* The key individual onsite ensuring accurate accounting and reflection of company performance through efficient day to day & month end process.
* Preparing all monthly P&L and balance sheet reconciliations for review with the Financial Controller prior to sign off with Financial Director.
* Preparation of workshop reporting.
* Production of KPIs and weekly flash reporting by different revenue streams to management.
* Liaising with payroll provider raising payments of final net pay, posting payroll costs onto financial system.
* Conduct regular and ad hoc stock takes with operational staff.
* Reconciling expected sales with actual invoices, investigating any variances between the two sources of information.
* Reconciliation of known purchases to supplier invoicing, investigating any anomalies especially in billed vs weight received.
* Checking of freight bills vs invoices received, ensuring correct accruals are in place for invoices not yet received.
* Spot checking of delivery and yard reports to ensure accuracy of performance reporting from other areas of the business.
* Processing of credit card statements, ensuring that receipts have been received for all expenditure.
* Checking of expenses, ensuring accurate treatment of VAT.
* Aid the yearly audit process, providing any additional information requested by external auditors.
* Managing & maintaining a robust control environment, promoting adherence of financial policies to the wider company whilst educating when these standards are not met.
* Filing of VAT returns in a timely manner.
* Assisting in the production of regular cash flow reporting to aid onsite cash management.
* Identifying and tracking of balance sheet risks ensuring management is kept up to date with any changes.
* Support the Group FC & FD on other ad hoc projects as required
The Successful Applicant
The successful Assistant Accountant will have some of the following:
* ACCA/ACA/CIMA part qualified, QBE will be considered.
* Strong communication skills, must be able to engage at various levels throughout the organisation.
* Able to prioritise and organise own work, in order to deliver to agreed deadlines.
* Strong enough to act as the financial conscience of the company, the FC and FD are often based at another site. As a result, this role is the senior finance person onsite most days.
* Experienced in completing month end process and providing good support to management, able to ensure risk areas are clearly communicated.
* High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
* A self-starter that is comfortable with pressure, some ambiguity and able to take the initiative to drive the desired outcome.
