A lovely, well-renowned SEND school between Thornbury and Gloucester is looking for a youth support worker to start after half term, supporting students aged 11-16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs and Autism.
The school caters for secondary-aged children but follows a primary model, and the class sizes are approximately 4 per class, supported by 1 teacher and 2 Teaching Assistants. This allows for a person-centred approach to learning, benefiting the pupils significantly.
The children who attend this school can occasionally display challenging behaviour; therefore, the school is looking for candidates who are resilient, approachable, compassionate, and adaptable. The school has great access to outdoor space, and pupils enjoy forest school activities, so candidates who are happy being outdoors and learning through doing will thrive in this setting.
Due to the remote location of the school, you need to have access to your own transport daily or be able to get a lift. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 am - 4:30 pm. The school seeks consistency and long-term support, ideally until the end of the academic year.
It is worth noting that the school prefers to take the right candidates on permanently, so if you are seeking a permanent position, this could be for you! The pay is between £95.29 - £105.00 per day, depending on experience.
You must have a DBS on the update service to work with children. If you don't have an in-date DBS, you would need to obtain one, which can be done through us at Axcis.
