About the job
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Finance Manager to join our dynamic Finance team. The Deputy Finance Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Head of Finance in managing the financial health of the company and ensuring the smooth operation of our Finance department. This hands-on position requires a team player who can work closely with the finance team on daily operations, financial reporting, and stock management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Head of Finance: Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies, and procedures. Represent the team at a senior level including providing financial advice to the organisation when required.
2. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Daily Operations: Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger entries. Perform these tasks personally when team members are on holiday or absent.
4. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed to ensure efficient workflow and accuracy.
5. Stock Management: Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring accurate accounting of inventory and timely reporting.
6. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, analysing variances and providing insights to support decision-making.
7. Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, assisting with internal and external audits.
8. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.
9. Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the finance team and company objectives.
Requirements
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. ACCA or CMA certification preferred. AAT Level 4 Diploma accepted if any of the above qualifications are in a final stage.
2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience in stock management is essential.
3. Skills:
o Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
o Proficiency in SAP Business One (SAP B1) and Microsoft Excel is essential.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: have highly developed communication skills with credibility to operate outside the finance function up to management level, and ability to build strong working relationships.
o Hands-on approach with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
