To be part of the phlebotomy team contributing to the clinical care of patients within the Royal Surrey Hospital and community by providing a high quality blood collection service. The post holder will be trained as a phlebotomist and will carry out duties to include wards, clinics and GP surgery based work or any other department deemed necessary. This will involve routinely handling biological samples and it is therefore essential that he/she is aware of the departmental safety policies which must be observed at all times. The post holder will be trained to perform a range of venepuncture techniques in a variety of clinical settings and will work under supervision until successfully assessed to work without supervision. Within 6 months the post holder will be assessed on their practical skills and knowledge base and must have reached competency equivalent to QCF Level 3 Unit 4223/340 Obtain A Venous Blood Sample (HSC 3053). The work requires flexible approach to hours of employment. The department operates 7 days a week. You will also be required to cover some Bank Holidays.
