The Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Management function sits within the Markets business within the Markets and Securities Services area of HSBC. We help manage and control non-financial and new risks in the business, including but not limited to operational, conduct and product lifecycle risk. An overarching purpose is to protect HSBC, its People, Clients and Financial Markets by helping safeguarding the delivery of fair outcomes to our customers and avoiding disruption of the orderly and transparent operation of Financial Markets.
Role Profile The Role Holder will be responsible for leading Data analysis activities as part of Supervisory and Trading Control improvements being delivered under the PRA Trading Controls programme for mitigation of unauthorised trading risk. Role Holder will be required to:
Work with Business Partners to clarify problems/opportunities and propose solutions underpinned by strong data analysis of underlying controls and processes
Leverage expert data analysis skills and trade lifecycle knowledge to analyse large data sets to identify trends, patterns and outliers within Front to back trade lifecycle controls in order to drive rationalisation and improvements in control design and operation
Utilise knowledge of Markets products, trade representation and lifecycle events to perform back-testing on Trading controls linked to Unauthorised Trading risk to inform effective control design, calibration and threshold setting
Prototype control reports/dashboards using existing data sources to validate design assumptions with Front Office Supervisors and Asset Class NFRs prior to Technology design and build
Refine and distil detailed functional requirements in order to produce finished business ready artefacts (Requirement Documents, Process Flows, Data Models and mappings) required for strategic implementation
Essential Experience (In Order Of Importance)
Strong and demonstrable experience using Advanced Data analysis tools including Excel, MS Access/VBA, Alteryx and Python to process, rationalise and analyse trends and patterns in large trading data sets
Good understanding of Markets trading products, lifecycle and front to back trading flows
Demonstrable experience working as a Business/Data Analyst in Markets front to back processes Trade lifecycle, Product Control, Traded risk, etc.
Experienced in developing MI/Dashboard Prototypes using Analytical tools such as Tableau, Qlikview
Strong skills in drafting business/data requirements, data modelling/data mapping, process and data flow diagrams
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate and work effectively with stakeholders across business lines and geographies
Strong problem solving and prioritisation skills and be able to multitask under pressure with a keen eye for detail
Excellent team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently
