About the Role
Newmark offers a comprehensive Placement Year programme for students pursuing a RICS accredited degree. This full-year, paid placement is based in London and provides an immersive experience in Surveying, gaining experience from day one. As a placement student, you'll be integrated into a specific team for the entire year, working closely with senior professionals and gaining hands-on experience that contributes towards your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) post-graduation. We provide training days to further develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.

The programme offers direct exposure to senior professionals, opportunities to participate in site visits, client meetings, research projects, and report writing. This experience not only enhances technical and practical knowledge, it also strengthens core skills such as communication, problem solving, teamwork, and networking.

Please note - this placement position will start in September 2025 for 12 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct site visits to assess properties, gather data, and contribute to valuation and appraisal processes.
2. Engage in research projects, analysing market trends, property values and other relevant data to support client advisory services.
3. Assist in the preparation of detailed reports, including appraisals and appeals, ensuring accuracy and clarity in presenting findings and recommendations.
4. Ensure that all collected data and prepared reports detail survey results, findings, and analyses for clients or senior surveyors.
5. Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of industry practices and develop core skills such as communication, planning, problem solving, teamwork, and networking.
6. Work closely with a team of surveyors to ensure effective project delivery and foster a collaborative work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Studying a RICS accredited degree is preferred.
2. An active interest in the built environment.
3. Flexible and self-motivated with a real desire to deliver excellent customer service and strong client relationships.
4. Proactive approach and a desire to continually learn and develop.
5. Organised, efficient, able to use your initiative and work to tight deadlines.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for details.
7. Positive attitude and willing to learn and develop.
8. You must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK.
9. Good MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Working Hours
The Firm's core hours are from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and you may choose to start and end your day around these hours, provided you still do your 7.25 hours per day. There is no requirement for this to be the same each day, but you are required to keep your manager informed. This position also involves working out of hours on an 'as necessary' basis.
