The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality, responsive nursing care to patients at Beccles Medical Centre. They will diagnose, treat, and advise on medical and care needs, working closely with GPs to manage minor illness, injuries, and acute issues. This role involves providing clinical consultations, prescribing treatments, and making referrals to secondary care or other health professionals when necessary. The post-holder will work collaboratively with the nursing team and the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure the best patient outcomes.

Beccles Medical Centre is an established GP surgery, in the Suffolk market-town of Beccles. The Practice has a list size of approximately 20,000 patients. We have 5 Partners, and just over 125 additional staff. We are a GP Training practice and also host other students studying at the nearby University of East Anglia. We work very closely with our PCN. Job responsibilities
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs, initiating diagnostic procedures and treatment, including prescribing and referrals.
2. Set and adhere to care standards following agreed protocols.
3. Support the management of patients with long-term conditions and make referrals to specialists as needed.
4. Provide expert assessment, treatment services, and healthcare advice.
5. Perform triage and assist in managing patient flow and throughput.
6. Perform and assist in minor procedures, investigatory processes, and collection of pathology samples.
7. Manage chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, and diabetes, including medication reviews and therapeutic adjustments.
8. Conduct health assessments, administer medications, perform diagnostic tests, and deliver various health interventions.
9. Support health needs related to sexual health, contraception, cervical cytology, and immunisation programs.
10. Manage hypertension reviews, new patient health checks, and provide opportunistic wound care.
11. Participate in vaccination and immunisation programs for adults and children.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain a high standard of professional conduct and care, in line with NMC regulations.
2. Participate in teaching and mentorship of nursing staff, medical students, and others as appropriate.
3. Attend relevant courses, meetings, and seminars to stay professionally updated.
4. Ensure nursing activities align with the practice's policies and contribute to their development.

12. Ensure accurate, legible documentation of all consultations, treatments, and attendances, and keep the clinical computer system up to date.
13. Maintain data collection requirements.
14. Lead and participate in staff and practice meetings.
15. Develop and maintain close working relationships with reception, office staff, and other colleagues.
16. Build and foster good working relationships with other service providers.
17. Ensure adherence to all safeguarding practices and procedures.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Keep accurate and detailed records of procedures, including the use of practice computer systems and templates.
2. Ensure accurate documentation for patient care, including batch numbers for administered treatments.

Qualifications
* Current NMC registration
* Relevant nursing / health degree
* Evidence of recent CPD
* At least 1 year recent primary and/or community nursing experience
* Management of long-term conditions
* Involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines
* Previous general practice experience
* Experience of using EMIS Web
* Experience of audit
* Participation in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking
