Support Workers (Complex Needs Care) This charitable facility based in Somerset is dedicated to the long-term future of its clients by taking a person-centred approach to caring for adults with additional complex care/disability and/or health needs. These are permanent roles, offering an excellent annual salary of £29000 plus exceptional employee benefits and flexible working. Job Purpose: We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to assist in delivering a stable and effective care program for adult males who have been convicted through the criminal justice system, and those who have been in a custodial prison or a secure hospitalised facility. You will be responsible for supporting clients to achieve the outcomes laid out in their Care/Support Plan, helping to assist with society thus ensuring the security of the facility and its surroundings. Key Responsibilities: • Key Worker Role: Provide general support to designated clients. • Personal Care: Assist with tasks like washing, dressing, and managing incontinence. • Food Preparation: Ensure access to food and drink, preparing and assisting with feeding as necessary. • Mobility: Help clients with their mobility by using the appropriate equipment and assistance as needed (this does include the use of hoists) • Medication Management: Ensure proper medication handling per policy. • Room Preparation: Prepare rooms for new clients and maintain communal areas. • Managing Challenging Behaviour: Remain calm and assess risks effectively. • Support: Guide other Support Workers and enhance client engagement. • Client Participation: Facilitate engagement in activities and meetings. • Risk Management: Participate in safety assessments for clients and staff. • Advice and Training: Offer support and training to staff and clients. • Team Meetings: Join discussions on risk factors and behaviour. • Support for Residents: Assist prospective and former residents. • First Aid: Provide emergency first aid when needed. Competencies: • Flexible attitude to rapid changes in tasks. • Literate and numerate, with IT skills in Microsoft Office. • Ability to work in a challenging environment. • Good listening and speaking skills. • Proven ability to work as part of a team. • Reliable and able to manage own workload. Other Requirements: • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check. • Able to work 08.30 - 20.30 on a 2-week rolling rota, this may include, weekends, and public holidays. • Motivated to help others and disadvantaged groups. • Full driving license.
